Rosner seeks judgeship in 3rd Judicial District

Rosner seeks judgeship in 3rd Judicial District

Sun-News report
LAS CRUCES — Mary W. Rosner, a Las Cruces attorney, has announced her candidacy for the 3rd Judicial District, Division 4 position, now held by state District Judge Jacinto Palomino.

Rosner, 64, said experience, integrity and a deep commitment to the law are the key elements of being a good district judge.

“It takes time to mature into a lawyer who understands the law and knows how to apply it,” Rosner said. “I've spent over 30 years as an attorney, and have argued cases in state and federal court, and before the state Court of Appeals and Supreme Court. I’m eager to bring this experience to the bench.”

Rosner, a Democrat, has practiced as a litigator, mediator and an arbitrator, first in Washington, D.C., and for the past 20 years, as a private-practice attorney in Las Cruces. Most of her legal career has focused on labor law and First Amendment law while in Washington, D. C., and family law while in Las Cruces.

“What I can promise is that all parties will be treated fairly,” Rosner said. “All parties will be heard, and all parties will know the basis on which my rulings are made. A good judge should be clear and predictable in how she applies the law to the facts.”

Rosner is a 1978 graduate of the University of New Mexico School of Law, and is married to Frank N. Chavez, a Las Cruces attorney who recently ran for presiding municipal judge. She is a member of the New Mexico Bar Association, and has been a board recognized specialist in family law for 17 years.

The primary election is June 5.

  1. Mary Rosner is a fine and decent person who cares about the people she represents...she knows family law unlike Judge Palamino.
He was appointed by Susana as were the last 3 family judges in District 3-- all from the DA's office -- once again showing the cronyism and dirty politics that prevail in the district and in our state politics.
Our governor does not look at qualifications...but in giving her friends judgeships--
Judge Jacinto has shown a very biased sense of "judgement" and has a very bad reputation among attorneys in family cases-- splitting families up not abiding by the law of joint custody- when both parents are deserving of raising their children. He has been known to give custody to fathers and take it away from mothers for no reason but that he can. He does not respect the value of a child having both parents in their lives-- and he has been know to allow disrespectful and manipulative teens to make his judgements for him!
PLEASE VOTE FOR MRS. MARY ROSNER-- she is most certainly very qualified in family law, unlike her appointed counter part and she is a very fair person who will not let anyone's association with the powers that be cloud her judgement...

    1. I have know several cases in which Judge Rosner acted in the exact same way in which you just described Judge Palomino. In fact, she has made even worse decisions regarding the placement of children in an unsafe environment. She refuses to rule based on factual information and instead rules on either hearsay or solely on he own opinions of individuals involved in a case. Placing children in homes where they has been repeated incidents of abuse is not acceptable. For the sake of our children's safety don retain Judge Rosner.

    2. I have seen Judge Rosner in court and was just shocked and appalled by her actions. She spoke down to people. Made a comment about someone having a job and mocking his job. He was a simple desk clerk and asking him how much he made and what he can and not afford, which had nothing to do with the case. This man was not there to pay child support he was not there to pay anything...he was actually the one owed money and she was attacking him. I felt bad for that man, he just sat there and took her verbal abuse. She was rude, arrogant and showed no people skills. She is very in favor of women in her court. Doesn't matter if the women are right men were treated harsh and rudely. A child's well being usually is with the mother but in todays world some dads have become the stay at home parent but when they bring this subject to her court she talks down to the men. This is wrong, your a judge to be the neutral party , but this Judge Rosner was very one sided, she was always and only on the side of females, and the few males that did go before her trying to do the right thing she didn't care she just shot them all down with her harsh and discriminating words. To act like a bully just because you have the power of decision over other people's life is wrong. This Judge is wrong for our community. For anyone's community.

  2. Judge Rosner tends to pick a side either male or female. She ignores factual evidence and rules soley on hearsay and her own believe on what she feels is right. Even when the evidence provided proves otherwise. Judge Rosner is unjust and unfair she is one sided and stays that way in every trail related to the case, no matter the side she picks male/female. I know cases where she has favored the male who is unfailable and can do no wrong. Regardless of what evidence was shown. Looking to form a support group of people who have been unjustly treated by Judge Rosner. Anyone intreseted let me know if you would like to do this?

    1. Judge Rosner is a very wise and a matter of fact Judge who bases her decisions on facts presented to her during trial, not on *sob* stories and manipulations. I know of a woman who has lied over and over again during trial and presented false bills. Judge Rosner called her on it and it's all recorded. The woman is still deluded to this day, believing in her own lies. You can count on Judge Rosner NOT to be manipulated but always look at facts.

    2. I highly disagree with you. Judge Rosner is a bully, who makes decisions based on her own feelings and personal relations. The most important decisions. Decisions that impact families. Ripping them apart. Unfortunately, this just happened to us and I intend on getting an attorney to continue fighting and get our children back, then I will report her for ethical misconduct. She needs to be removed from office, and should make sure who she is making rulings against. She thought we were nobody's and wouldn't know our rights or the law. She is greatly mistaken.

  3. Judge Rosner is a bully and bases her verdicts on NO facts whatsoever. She is rude and degrading and needs to be removed from seat.
